Congrats, Dr. Ashwin!

On January 26th, Ashwin Rajagopalan successfully defended his thesis. The day was a special milestone for both Ashwin and the group, marking the culmination of several years of work at the interface of atomic physics and optomechanics.

Ashwin’s thesis, “Hybrid quantum sensing using an optomechanical resonator coupled atom interferometer,” explores the fusion of cold-atom interferometry with optomechanical sensing to overcome vibration noise limitations in precision measurements. His work demonstrates how a specially designed optomechanical resonator can be integrated with an atom interferometer to enable high-precision inertial sensing even in challenging environments.
